Thanksgiving Road Trip – Day 1

Day 1 of our thanksgiving road trip consisted of nearly a thousand miles of driving over 15 or so hours. Starting out from Seattle, we had breakfast in Portland, cut across and reached Bend, OR by the afternoon and finally Reno, NV by 11pm. Focused on covering ground rather than shooting, I actually took only a handful of pictures on the way down – but here are the first day images.
All shots taken with an Olympus OM-4 + Zuiko lenses on Kodak Ektar 100. Scanned with Nikon’s Coolscan 5000.

An amazing morning sunrise somewhere between Seattle and Portland. No photoshop – just a straight scan

Hey Lawrence,
Great, great shots. Love you new style. I’m starting to incorporate a lot more of film characteristics in my images with the Nik Color EFEx and Alien Skin Exposure film settings. There is something there for sure, like digital audio recording vs. analog audio recording.
If you’re ever in Vancouver, BC let me know. Be glad to meet you.

Thanks Ed… Another decent Photoshop plugin for film effects is Optikverve (http://www.optikvervelabs.com/). It’s free also. I’ll do a write up on it in the coming couple of weeks. Feel free to post some examples of how you get on with NIK (which I also like).
I may well be swinging through Vancouver for a day during December. I’ll keep you posted.
