Latest Roll of Film
Rather than drip feeding shots from a recent roll of BW film – I thought I’d get them out of the way and throw all the images into a single posting. I learned photography through digital and have been shooting film an embarrassingly short period of time – so I’m still adjusting to the slower style, more cautious approach, etc. However, this was one of my best rolls of film yet as far as hit rate goes. All shots below were taken with an Olympus OM-4 and a Zuiko 55mm f/1.2 or Zuiko 21mm f/2.0. The film was Fuji Neopan 400. I’ve been really impressed with this film. I’m shooting more with Ilford currently but will do an all-up comparison of ISO 400 BW films in the coming weeks. Here are a dozen or so keepers from the mashup of subjects I shot over that week. With the exception of just one or two images, all shots are untouched in digital post processing (just scanned, resized, uploaded).
This is Akuri. It’s a reshoot of one of my favourite portraits of Akuri (previous shot, with a 5D Mark II, is here)
Another shot of Akuri… Looking out at the lake at Magnuson Park, Seattle WA
Part of my Horizon’s project.
Another shot that’ll make it into Horizons, and one of my favourite shots from 2009. This was taken at Gasworks Park, Seattle (and no, I didn’t know the family). For this image, I allowed myself some artistic license in post processing however.
A shot with the Zuiko 21mm f/2.0. That’s our newly adopted dog, Sora
Fairly standard reflection shot made better by the way that Fuji’s Neopan 400 handles those tones in the sky.
I poorly focused this so didn’t quite end up like I wanted.
Standard ‘look up and shoot’ fare.
The guy in the passenger seat was dressed like a banana
Taken at Seattle’s Arboretum. Shot from just a couple of feet away with the Zuiko 21mm f/2.0
Another 21mm shot. Our other dog Rio. I’ve taken thousands of shots of Rio with digital gear and this is the first time the contrast has come out in this way. This is now my Facebook profile pic.
Rio wondering why it always rains here in Seattle. Again, the contrasty effect of Neopan doing its job

A photoshoot I did for a friend’s daughter’s 1 year birthday. Instead of a fee, I asked them to donate to one of the dog charities we support. This is will be a recurring theme for me btw – I’ll update more on that later

Great stuff, you helepd me out so much!
