Switar 26mm f/1.1 C mount

16 September 2009 2 Comments

A few days ago, the lens I’ve been waiting for finally arrived.

The lens is the Switar 26mm f/1.1. From what I’ve read, one of the finest pieces of glass ever made, it focuses from macro to infiniti, is super fast and has amazing sharpness. Just as importantly, it has that funky cinematic bokeh that I’ve come to love recently. Unless something unexpected happens, this C mount lens, mated to a micro four thirds camera (the Olympus E-P1 for the time being) will be what I’ll be doing the majority of my photography with for the rest of the year.

I’ll be updating with pics, samples and more info here soon. Here’s three simple snaps to get you started though:

Hi Lawrence – I looked at one of these prior to purchasing the Lumix GF-1, but bottled out as I had not yet seen the results from the Pana 20mm f1.7 (astonishing!!).
I’d love to try one, but find the manual focusing to be tricky – to say the least. I imagine an EVF to form another leve3l of stability might help.

Enjoying your blog – hope you are well.
