Canon G9 Review

I wasn't initially going to do this review but after a number of requests on the forums (and after having a lot of fun with the camera), I decided to put it together.

This is not the first to review the Canon G9. It’s already been covered extensively on many other sites including dpreview. Because all these other sites cover things like ISO / resolution comparisons, specs, dimensions, etc - it’s freed me up a little to talk about some of the areas which might not get addressed as much (like handling, real world image quality samples, etc). This review is broken into four parts:

   1. Part 1 - Introduction
   2. Part 2 - Handling and Controls
   3. Part 3 - Image Quality
   4. Part 4 - Conclusion

Hope you enjoy the review.

Thanks for the great write-up. I can't decide between the G9 and the Ricoh GX100, and unfortunately I'm no closer! I'm leaning towards the Ricoh for its 24-72mm zoom range, but I am bit worried about wanting something longer sometimes! Of course, the only thing holding me back from the Canon is it's short end! I don't really need 24mm, a 28-135 or even 105 would be fine. I'm sure eventually one of them will get it right!
