A day at the Polo
So I am not usually known for my frequent attendance at Polo event sbut given that we had friends who are big fans, and that Singapore was recently hosting a major tournament we decided to accompany them. So last Sunday, we spent a day at Singapore’s Polo Club. Had pretty good seats and also good access to grounds so got some photos I liked. These are below. They were shot with a mix of either my Canon 5D (with either 35mm or 135mm) or a compact Olympus SP-550. The former was used when I could get close enough, the latter from a distance (as it has an equivalent max focal length of 500mm).
This was my first shoot in about a month – have been enjoying a bit of a break and also having to prioritise some other issues that have come up – so was good to be back shooting again. Things should be a more regular again from here. Thanks to everyone whose been regularly checking in and also mailing me.

I especially like the 5th image. The horse full in the air, the appearance of the rider trying to reign him in against an unexpected urban frame. The composition makes the shot, gives the sense of this fleeting movement, a moment about to change. Very cool.
