Stats in February
February saw the completion of my first full month of writing on this blog. I started in early January with plenty of enthusiasm and I’m glad to say that my initial questions of whether I would be able to keep the early momentum of posting regularly have since faded.
It’s been a great place for me to share pictures / shoots as well as post occasional Along the way, I’ve had a couple of unexpected twists. Getting an Olympus SP-550 and being the first site on the net to provide an in-depth review saw the number of hits, visitors and comments increase dramatically. This site isn’t intended to be a review site, but hey – if pretty fun to occasionally talk about gear.
Anyway, thought I would kick off March by sharing some stats from the past few weeks. Highlights follow (all for the month of Feb):
- Number of entries I wrote: 25
- Number of visitors: > 41,000
- Number of hits: > 210,000
- Percentage of returning visitors: 30%
- Number of visits from the US: > 9,000
- Number of visits from the Nepal: 1
- The country which has the highest average number of page views per visit: Netherlands (6.8 pages / visit)
- The number of people who found this blog by typing in "Lawrence Ripsher" on Google: 33
- Number of people who will find this information interesting: 1 (forecast)
:)

Thanks for the data! As both a brain injury researcher AND webmaster for our company's website (what a combination) … one of my "tasks" – but thankfully "interest" too – is statistics, so I'm always interested in these kinds of numbers. :-) Very impressive figures!
hey! stat counter? how did you get those .. um.. stats? lol.. I know I know..
Wow.. that many views? Impressive..
Lawrence, impressive numbers! I think your next topic for your blog should be a review about the different stat counters out there! (O:
Sampled an S550UZ for a week or so shortly after reading your experiences, but simply couldn't make friends. However, that exposure prompted me to research several other digicams and I next tried a Canon S3. But aside from being much too complicated, it also began to literally come apart around the lens. Finally purchased a Fuji S6000fd and find the 28>300mm range ample, the operation more involved than my Olympus C740UZ (am also learning I hadn't fully discovered all that machine can do), but AM making progress up the asymptotic curve. And perhaps best of all, my net price after Fuji's $50 rebate will be $258…that's as in $$$, not in £££. In fact, the only minor negative, and it is minor, has to do with still needing more expensive and relatively hard-to-find xD memory cards. The editor of our local newspaper complimented me on the difference he noticed in my photos used with my weekly Kiwanis club column, so it's nice to hear that from objective experience.
Nevertheless, Lawrence, I'm still greatful for your initial SP-550UZ introduction that got me started down the slippery slope that has lead to a happy ending.
Thanks,
Rog Patterson
