… They Will Come
Sometimes you go after the subject with your camera, tracking / moving / zooming… chasing that perfect moment. And other times, if you sit and wait, the subject comes to you.
The latter was the case this afternoon. A couple of hours before sunset, I was wandering around with my camera and noticed a triangle of light on the floor. It wasn’t particularly interesting by itself but I was in the middle a busy building and people were streaming by and walking through the path of light. It’s the kind of thing that would have been invisible to me a couple of years ago but now it had me rooted as I watched the shadows dance in front of me. The shot was easy – underexpose slightly, prefocus, point the camera – and wait for someone interesting to walk by. I initially wanted an adult and child but in the end a couple walking in unison, one carrying a shopping bag proved to be what I was waiting for. One shot later and I had my image. I may have forgotten I even have this image in a couple of years but for today, I like it.
