A Busy Few Months
A number of people have asked me what I have planned next over the next few weeks / months with regards to projects, travel, etc. So, I thought I’d list down what I’m up to – in part as a note to myself to help me get organised, as these next couple months are going to be extremely busy.
This weekend is when it all kicks off. It starts with a shoot with a couple I’ve known for a while. Their wedding is coming up and we’re going to revisit a few locations I’ve shot at before. They’re of the adventurous sort, and with my own inclinations, I’m not planning for these to be typical shots of the young and in love. Will be interesting to see what we can come up with together.
After that, things get really interesting. I’ll be taking a weekend out to go to El Nido, Philippines, made famous on Pbase by my good friend – the incomparable Manny Librodo. I’ve been to the Philippines 15 times or so on business and this will actually be my first chance to get outside of Manila and actually see some of the beautiful country. It’ll be a very short trip – but a memorable one I am sure.
I then have a young, enthusiastic and talented photographer flying in from Thailand to do a workshop with me in March. We met on Pbase and I’m looking forward to seeing how we can bring her talents to an even higher level. This kind of work is always exciting.
Speaking of Thailand, I’m actually hoping to make it to Bangkok myself at some point in the next couple of months as well – I’ve been asked to shoot some photos for a TV production which, if it happens, would be fantastic. We’re still in discussion regarding the logistics but if it goes through, it’s going to be a great opportunity for some unique photography.
And finally, perhaps the thing that’s going to top it all comes in April when I fly back to Japan for a short holiday. There we are planning to visit a location I have been dreaming about for the past 18 months. Now, It looks like it might be finally happening and I’ll release more details as the date draws near.
In between all this, I’m trying to get a new project off the ground while I continue to do the occasional street and portrait photography I’ve been posting recently. The idea for the project is there but I haven’t started it yet – as always, I’m looking for that first shot to get the whole thing moving. The biggest question I have is what forum I’m going to be posting it on, given there’s been an exodus of talent away from some of the more popular image sharing sites recently (which is another story). Perhaps I’ll just have to start my own :).
Well, that summarises the next couple of months as they stand right now. When I look back up the page at what needs to be accomplished, part of me wishes that I hadn’t written it all down as it’s a daunting list to complete. But it’s an exciting one too. So better get cracking !
Finally, I’ll leave you with a shot I took today while out walking the dogs along East Coast Park.

Quite a schedule. Congrats also on the tv shoot. I think your second career is beginning to take off. Don't forget us amateurs out here! I'll be watching. :-)
wow.. daunting indeed. I guess going to a town 10 miles away for a b-ball game tonight isn't so exciting after all..LOL
Oh yeah, I'm going with my 20D so .. it is exciting to me!
I'm excited to see what you come up with (as per always) .. i love how you get "projects" in your mind and then do them with such creativity.
Right now I'm trying to figure out how to shoot my daughter's wedding in June and still be in it.. :S
Makes my life sound so easy. Hell, I have trouble just making sure I can keep my CF cards organized.
Sounds like it will be extremely enjoyable, if a little hectic.
I look forward to kicking back, relaxing for a few months and enjoying the fruits of your labours!
I love this shot. I think it captures the spirit of Singapore very well. The stark contrast somehow remains harmonious. Yet on another day, I would probably feel the tensions. It might be one of those images that get stuck in my head years on ; )
BTW, I've been eagerly looking out for reviews of the sp550uz ever since I chanced upon it more than a month ago. Was I surprised that the first review came from little Singapore! Was quite touched when I saw those familiar images. The feeling is probably much stronger because I am so far away from home.
