Anatomy of a Dream
I have been an avid follower of Craig Persel’s photography every since I joined Pbase and he is one of those rare photographers who has been able to stick to the PAD (Photo a Day) commitment as well as consistently turning out great image on a daily basis. While I enjoy all of Craig’s work, it is when he ventures into the surreal that I find myself being transported into his dreamlike world. This week Craig posted an image to his Anatomy of a Dream gallery which has not left my mind since first seeing it and as such, is my pick this week for an image deserving of as much recognition as possible (I am certainly not alone in this thinking as this shot has been on the most popular pages of Pbase all week).
When I saw the image, I was actually so taken aback by it I actually wrote to Craig to ask if it was real. Needless to say, it is a genuine shot – one that immediately strikes the viewer with its simplicity and composition but then continues to come at you in waves as you notice the subtle details of the horse’s stance, the way the tree seems to be leaning away, those great photoshop touches. It really is about as good as an image like this can get. All in all, a fantastic shot. Thank you Craig!

Wow. Thanks Lawrence. :-)
I agree. An image such as this blends photography into an artistic medium to be appreciated far beyond the cameras ability to record. The gallery's title is so appropriate as to emphasize the dreamy effect Craig explores in many of his images. This one does stand out. Great choice for the blog.
Yes, one of the best images on pbase in ages and distinctively Craig's style, in the best possible sense.
Great choice Lawrence. It's a magnificent photo.
majestic in everyway. Yes, this one stayed with me for a few days and no doubt now it will for a few more. Dream.
